Paalak Paneer (Spinach with Cheese) - پالک پنیر


It is an interesting main course meal dish which not only gives enhanced taste but also very useful for our health. Its main ingredients are Spinach   (پالک) and Cottage Cheese (پنیر) which are enriched with natural ingredients and its combination gives double promotion to our health. Let us discuss in brief about some of the benefits of both:

Spinach: It is a rich Source of Vitamins (A, C & K), minerals (Magnese, Magnesium & Iron) and many more. Combination of this natural source of energy is very useful for reducing blood pressure and oxidative stress besides it is also very much useful for the health of our eyes etc.

Cottage Cheese: Protein, Calcium, Vitamin B Complex, Folate (an element to make red blood cells) are the basic natural source came out from Cottage Cheese. Consequently these nutrients help in maintaining of blood sugar level, strengthening the bones and teeth, improves digestion and heart health. Moreover inclusion of Selenium, Vitamin E and some antioxidants are very helpful in maintaining healthier skin.

Let us have a look of its making/preparation or cooking in MHK’s own style. We are going to cook it in simple, easy and quick way to add and interesting main course meal dish:

Ingredients for Making of Paalak Paneer:

Spinach (پالک): 2 Kg (Washed thoroughly and cut in small pieces)

Onion (پیاز): 2 (Medium size roughly chopped)

Tomato (ٹماٹر): 3 (Medium size roughly chopped)

Chadder Cheese (پنیر): 200 Grams (1 Cup almost)

Green Chili (ہری مرچ): 3~4 (roughly chopped)

Garlic (لہسن): 1 (Medium size)

Green Coriander (ہرا دھنیا) : 1/2  Cup

Cooking Oil (تیل): 1 Cup

Fresh Milk Cream (بالائی): 1 Cup (well beated)

Red Chili Powder (سرخ مرچ): 1 Table Spoon

Coriander Powder (دھنیا): 1 Table Spoon

Turmeric (ہلدی): 1 Tea Spoon

Salt (نمک): 1 Table Spoon

Ginger Powder (ادرک): 1 Tea Spoon

Cumin (زیرہ): 1 Table Spoon

Spice (گرم مصالحہ): 1 Table Spoon  


Procedure for Making of of Paalak Paneer:

Step-1: Keep the water to boil on stove and pour the spinach in it and let it boil for 1 or 2.

Step-2: After it strained it and rinse it with cold water.

Step-3: Than blend the spinach in blender with little use of water to make an even paste

Step-4: Place cooking pan on the stove at low flame and pour oil in it. When oil become slightly hot add cumin in it and fry for a short while. Then add onion and garlic in it and fry till they become soft and transparent.

Step-5: Now take this mixture out and let it be cool. Then add it with tomatoes & green chili and blend them for a smooth paste.

Step-6: In remaining oil in the pan add all spices with some amount of water and fry a little on low flame. Add here tomatoes (step-5) and let it be fry.

Step-7: When that mixture become fried add spinach (step-3) paste in it and stir to mix thoroughly. After that steam cook it for 3~4 minutes.

Step-8: When water is dried add fresh milk cream and stir thoroughly to make the mixture smooth and uniform. When done add green coriander & Spice and again mix in the same way. Here now steam cook for 2 minutes on low flame.

Step-9: In last add cheese in it and our Paalak Paneer is ready to serve.

 

Tips for Paalak Paneer:

1. Washing the spinach with cold water will preserve and enhance the colour of it and it gives a fresh look.

2. Be careful from the hot bubbles when the spinach is being cooked when quantity of water in it is at high ratio.

3. Adding of green coriander will make the colour fresh and enhance the taste.
