Gobhi gosht

Cauliflower is an interesting touch to the variety of main course dishes. Let us have a look of its making/preparation or cooking in MHK’s own style. We are going to make it in simple, easy and quick way to add an interesting main course meal dish:

Ingredients:

Cauliflower (پھول گوبھی): 1 Kg (Cut in large pieces washed and soaked in vinegar for 10 minutes)

Beef (with bones) (ہڈی والا بڑا گوشت): 1 Kg

Onion (پیاز): 2X (Medium Size & Roughly Chopped)

Tomato (ٹماٹر): 3X (Cut in large pieces)

Oil (تیل): 1/2 Cup

Ginger (ادرک)+Garlic (لہسن)Paste: 2 Table Spoon

Mix Hot Spice (گرم مصالحہ): 1 Tea Spoon

Salt (نمک): 1 Tea Spoon (or as per taste)

Coriander Powder (دحنیا): 1/2 Table Spoon

Turmeric Powder (ہلدی): 1/2 Tea Spoon

Red Chili Powder (سرخ مرچ): 1/2 Tea Spoon

Chili Flakes (کٹی ہوئی لال مرچ): 1/2 Tea Spoon

 

Procedure:

Step-1: Pour all the ingredients except cauliflower and mix hot spice. Add water (2 cup/500ml), mix gently & cover with lid. Initially cook it for 5 minutes on high flame and for 30 to 35 minutes on medium flame.

 

Step-2: Now remove the lid and further cook till the water is dried and beef and tomato etc. are tendered thoroughly.

 

Step-3: After cooking of 5 minutes (almost) all the ingredients are blended, water is dried and oil is visible at the edges of the gravy. At this stage add cauliflower and further cook on medium flame.

 

Step-4: At this stage when cauliflower is also blended in the gravy add 1 cup of water (so that cauliflower could also be tendered and gravy is also made), stir a while & then cover with the lid for 5 minutes.

 

Step-5: Remove the lid and oil is visible at the edges of the gravy & Cauliflower is reasonably tendered so sprinkle mix hot spice, fine cut coriander and green chilies. Cover for a while & present accordingly.

 

Tip-1: While cooking check frequently that either the water is dried or not and make sure do not let the water to be dried.
