Homemade Condensed Milk

Condensed milk is a very useful recipe, used in different desserts, sweats, cakes etc. Although it is readily available in the market but there are some areas where its availability seems to be difficult. In such circumstances we it would me more appropriate that instead of getting worried we may make it at own. It is a very simple and quick recipe and can be made within no time to meet the need of the hour. So let us see how it is made and what useful tips are required to make it efficiently and effectively:-

Ingredients of Condensed Milk

1. Milk: 500 ml (02 cups; full fat)

2. Sugar: 01 cup

 3. Vanilla Essence: 1/2 Tea Spoon (Optional)

Procedure for Making of Condensed Milk:

Step-1: Pour milk in pan and flame is on medium flame.

Step-2: Add sugar as well in the right beginning.

Step-3: Stir continuously till the mixture is getting thick

Step-4: Adding of Vanilla essence is optional just to enhance the fragrance of the milk.

Step-5: Colour of the milk starts turning towards yellow shade as the sugar melts and quantity reduces to its half (almost)
Step-6: Now it is ready, turn off the flame, let it cool and preserve for further use.

 

Three Main Points to Remember:

1. Keep on stirring the milk while cooking otherwise it will burn.

 

2. As the condensed milk will thicken more after cooling therefore off the flame well before the required consistency is achieved.

 

3. High fat milk is recommended to achieve desired better results.

 

Useful Tips:

1. Pouring of sugar in the right beginning is helpful in adding creamy texture of the milk.

2. In order to avoid lumps of milk fat in condensed milk, keep on stirring and scraping the sides & bottom of pan continuously.
