CHICKEN STEAM ROAST (سٹیم روسٹ)

It is a homemade steam roast recipe can be easily cooked and with very simple ingredients. Let us have a look of its making/preparation or cooking in MHK’s own style. We are going to make it in simple, easy and quick way to add an interesting main course meal dish:

Ingredients for Making of Chicken Steam Roast:

Chicken Pieces (چکن پیس): 1 Kg (Large Size is preferable)

Curd (دہی):  1 Cup (250 Ml)

Ginger (ادرک) + Garlic(لہسن)  Paste: 2 Table Spoon

Lemon Juice (لیموں کا رس) : 2 Table Spoons

Yellow Food Colour (زرد رنگ): 1 Pinch

Chaat Masalah (چاٹ مصالحہ): 1 Tea Spoon

Coriander ((دھنیا Powder: 1 Table Spoon

Chili Flakes (دڑا مرچ): 1 Table Spoon

Red Chili (سرخ مرچ) Powder: 1 Table Spoon

Salt (نمک): 1.5 Tea Spoon (or as per taste)

Turmeric (ہلدی) Powder: 1/2 Tea Spoon

Kashmiri Red Chili (کشمیری لال مرچ) : 1/2 Tea Spoon

Spices Mixture (گرم مصالحہ): 1 Tea Spoon

 

Procedure for Making of Chicken Steam Roast:

Step-1: Pour curd in a pot along with all spices and mix thoroughly.

Step-2: Now dip each piece one by one in that mixture and marinate thoroughly.

Step-3: Cover the batter with cling sheet and keep it for 4~6 hours or overnight for further process.

Step-4: Place butter paper on the lid on which marinated pieces will be laid and make wholes on that butter paper.

Step-5: Place pot on the stove with water below the level of plate on which pieces for roast shall be placed.

Step-6: Add spices in that water to enhance the taste of steam roast.

Step-7: Now place the plate and turn the flame to medium and place all pieces one by one on that and cover again with the butter paper and let it steam cook for 35~40 minutes.

Step-8: After 30~35 minutes, remove the lid and check the pieces.

Step-9: To give BarBQ touch rearrange all the pieces in steamer and place burned charcoal piece in it. Drop 1 Table Spoon on it and steam cook further for 5 minutes.

Tips for Chicken Steam Roast:

1. Large pieces of chicken are good one for best results.

2. Recommended time after marination i.e. 6~8 hours for better taste.

3. Butter place can be replaced with brown sheet, simple white paper or newspaper sheet.
